PANAMA CITYBEACH — Rutherford hurlers Nick Nelson and Cody Roby combined on a no-hitter as Rutherford rolled to a 9-0 victory over Arnold in a District 1-5A baseball game at the Mike Gavlak Sports Complex on Friday night.
Nelson struck out seven in five innings, and Roby added another strike out in two innings of work for the Rams (7-3, 4-1 district).
Tyler Chatman was 3 for 4 with a double, Kendall Herron had a two-run double in the second, Tyler Broxson was 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Nelson blasted a solo homer for Rutherford.
The Rams begin play in the Panama City Invitational on Monday against Florida High at 7 p.m.
Rutherford also won the JV game 2-1. T.Y. Reese didn’t allow a run in five innings for the Rams.
Mosley 7, University 6
LYNN HAVEN — Mosley’s Jordan Larry threw out a base-runner at home plate for the final out of the game, and he preserved the Dolphins’ victory over Tennessee-based University.
Mosley (12-1) allowed five runs in the top of the fifth to fall behind 5-3, but Clay Cosby’s three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth put the Dolphins back in front 6-5. Cosby also had a two-run double in the game.
Andrew Deramo picked up the win on the mound, and Austin Bizzle struck out three in two innings to earn the save for Mosley, which plays Tallahassee Leon in the Panama City Invitational on Monday.
Northview 3, Holmes County 2
BONIFAY — Ty Russ struck out 15 in a complete-game effort, but the Blue Devils could only back him with four hits. Two of those were off his bat, while Jacky Miles and Kodi Russ each had singles for Holmes County (5-4, 3-1 District 2-1A), which hosts Vernon on Monday.
Rutherford7, Gulf Breeze 1
GULF BREEZE — Becca Taylor pitched a one-hitter and struck out six, and Abbie Barron added three hits and two runs batted in for Rutherford in the District 1-5A victory.
Aaliyah Maiben and Curstin Taylor added two hits apiece for the Rams, who scored five runs in the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie. The Rams (9-2, 5-1 district) travel to West Florida Tech on Tuesday for another district game at 6 p.m.
Rutherford won the JV game 12-10 to improve to 7-0-2. Savannah Boyette had three hits, and Alexis Connaster was the winning pitcher.
Mosley 11, Choctawhatchee 1
LYNN HAVEN — Katie Lopes dominated visiting Choctaw in the pitcher’s circle with 13 strikeouts, and she was equally impressive at the plate with two home runs for Mosley in a District 2-6A matchup.
Lopes allowed just four hits and one earned run, Laney Hanes added three hits and a double, and Brooke Wilke contributed with three hits and two runs scored for the Dolphins (8-3, 4-3 district).
Mosley hosts Bozeman on Monday at 6 p.m.
Mosley’s JV team won 10-0. Jenny Dunn was the winning pitcher.
