Prep (1/24): Rams down Tornadoes, clinch No. 1 seed

PANAMA CITY — Gabe Steele had 18 points Friday night as Rutherford cemented the top seed in the upcoming District 1-5A boys basketball tournament with a 67-59 win over Bay.

The Rams, 18-2, roared through the district unbeaten and earned a first-round bye aided by 17 points from Khaliel Spearman and 13 by Josh Wade. The district tournament will be hosted by Bay beginning Feb. 4.

Tommy Wade led all scorers with 22 points for Bay, 17-5. Demetrius Rivers added 16.

Rutherford is at Graceville tonight at 7 p.m. Bay plays at Lincoln 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Port St. Joe 61, Bozeman 46

SAND HILLS — T.J. Williams had 20 points, Marcel Johnson nine points and four assists and Chad Quinn seven points and six rebounds for Port St. Joe. The Tiger Sharks are 10-11, 4-5 in District 4-1A. Brandon Suttles had 12 points and Ryan Peltonen and Christian Byrd eight apiece for the Bucks. Bozeman is 13-8, 5-5 in district.

Port St. Joe plays at Liberty County 3:30 p.m. CST today. Bozeman hosts North Bay Haven 7 p.m. Tuesday for Senior Night.
