Blountstown (13-0) vs. Trenton (11-1), 6:07 p.m. CST Friday at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando

How they advanced: Blountstown — The top-ranked team in the state stayed unbeaten with a 42-0 rout of homestanding Cottondale behind three touchdowns (two rushing) by quarterback Hunter Jordan. Blountstown opened the postseason with a 40-6 win over Liberty County and blanked Port St. Joe 34-0 to win the Region 2-1A title; Trenton — Jacquez Powell scored twice and Shaquille Mitchem intercepted a pass at the 4-yard line to seal a 17-14 victory over previously undefeated rival Dixie County. Trenton advanced with blowouts in the first two rounds, dusting off Mayo Lafayette 50-21 in the semifinal and blasting Hamilton County 59-32 to win the Region 3-1A crown.

All-time playoff records: Blountstown — 24-17 with three Class 2A state titles (1973, 1976-77); Trenton — 17-13.

Notes: This is the first playoff meeting between the schools. … This is Blountstown’s first appearance in the Class 1A state title game since 2004, when the Tigers fell 42-38 to Fort Meade. … No. 4 Trenton advanced to the 1A final for the second straight season after losing to Bratt Northview 42-21 in 2012. … Trenton also lost to 2011 state champion Jefferson County in the Region 3-1A championship. … Trenton is 35-3 over the last three seasons, all under third-year coach Andrew Thomas, which is the best mark among Rural classification schools. … Blountstown lost five games in each of 2011 and 2012 and went unbeaten this season for the second time since 2006, when it reached the state semifinal. … Greg Jordan is in his eighth season as Blountstown coach and he has compiled a 64-29 record with seven playoff appearances. … Trenton, winner of 10 consecutive games, averages 43 points per game while it gives up 16 a contest. It has scored 48 or more points in all but three games this season and posted one shutout. … Blountstown, 12-2 in its last 14 games against 1A teams, averages 36 per game while yielding only five with eight shutouts and six of those coming in the last eight games. … Trenton averages 258 yards rushing per game and is led by Melvin Adams (1,117, 16 touchdowns) and Powell (14 scores). … Blountstown averages the same per game with a more balanced attack behind leading rusher Alex Mayorga (732, eight TDs) and four other ball carriers with 362 yards or more.
