Walton grounds Blountstown offense in win

BLOUNTSTOWN — Blountstown was held to 178 total yards and dropped its season opener to Walton 16-6 on Friday.

Lonnie Perez opened the scoring for the Tigers (0-1) with a 5-yard run in the second quarter. The extra-point attempt failed and the Braves (1-0) went on to score 16 unanswered points.

Cody Phillips grabbed a Jace Fielder pass from 29 yards to tie the game and Dylan Scott’s field goal gave Walton a 9-6 halftime lead. Walton added a fourth-quarter touchdown.

Dylan Lee led Blountstown with 64 yards rushing and completed 4 of 14 passes for 51 yards. DeAnte Williams added 33 yards receiving.

Blountstown is at Tallahassee FAMU High next week.
