Four area boys soccer teams remain in the hunt for region championships, with those tournaments beginning on Wednesday.

Rutherford, 8-5-4, travels to Gulf Breeze in a Region 1-3A quarterfinal. In 1-2A, Bay, 9-11-1, plays at Florida High. Both county schools were forced to travel in the opening round after losing their respective district finals on Friday.

The lone district champion from the area is Port St. Joe, 13-2-1, which hosts Maclay to begin the Region 1-1A bracket. Franklin County is at Lafayette in another 1-1A quarterfinal.

Rutherford has an especially difficult task against an accomplished Gulf Breeze squad that is 23-2-1. All games begin at 7 p.m. local time.

Schedule

1-1A: Maclay at Port St. Joe, Franklin County at Lafayette, The Master’s Academy at St. Joseph, Christ’s Church Academy at Orangewood Christian.

1-2A: Taylor County at Pensacola Catholic, Bay at Florida High, Episcopal at West Nassau, Yulee at Bolles.
