Carlan, McClanahan win regional titles; 11 advance to state wrestling

JACKSONVILLE — Arnold’s Richie McClanahan (120-pound weight class) and Brock Carlan (126) won regional titles and the Marlins placed fifth overall in the 1-1A tournament hosted by Jacksonville Bishop Snyder. Arnold’s Paul Patterson placed second at 132 pounds and also qualified for state. The top four wrestlers in each weight class advance to the state meet at The Lakeland Center starting on Friday.

Marianna sent five wrestlers to state and placed fourth as a team. The Bulldogs advanced Anthony Ward (120), Jameson Maddox (132), Chris Warf (138), Devin Combs (152) and Trevon Johnson (170). Bay’s Chance Layfield (113) and Bozeman’s John Kenney (138) also moved on.

Region 1-2A

TALLAHASSEE — Mosley’s Forrest Lang placed third in the 152-pound weight class to advance to the state tournament. He was the lone Dolphin to qualify for the regional event.
