LAKELAND — The first round of the FHSAA state wrestling championships on Friday was not kind to Bay County wrestlers.
In Class 1A, Arnold sophomore Brock Carlan was the lone county wrestler to win his opening match, Carlan earned a 10-2 decision at 120 pounds to avoid falling into the losers’ bracket. Results from second-round matches Friday were not made available by the FHSAA at press time.
The only other area wrestler to triumph in his opening match was Devin Combs of Marianna. He claimed a 4-2 decision at 152 pounds.
Jonah Savage of Bozeman was pinned in his match at 106 pounds. Colby Baker of Arnold lost 13-1 at 138, Taylor Ryan of Arnold was defeated 8-0 at 145, Kris Kenney of Bozeman was pinned at 170, Alijah Saffore of Rutherford lost by fall at 220 and Kole Krimm of Arnold was pinned at heavyweight.
In the Class 2A meet, Forrest Lang of Mosley fell 5-2 in his opening match at 152.
Blountstown 10, Chipley 6
BLOUNTSTOWN — Hunter Jordan was 3 for 4 with a home run and double as the Tigers improved to 2-0. Taylor Wood had a single and home run and Derek Eberly had a single and double. Taylor Mauck was the winning pitcher in relief striking out five.
Blountstown plays at South Walton 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Arnold 17, Graceville 3
GRACEVILLE — The Marlins, 2-1, won in five innings as Dana Edmundson had a double, two singles, two RBIs and three runs scored. Sarah Robertson was 3 for 4 with two runs, Jo Jo Booker 3 for 3 with three runs, Summer Simmons 2 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs and Shelby Ramsey 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Jade Sankey was the winning pitcher yielding three hits with four strikeouts.
Arnold plays Monday night at Blountstown.
Sneads 5, Blountstown 0
BLOUNTSTOWN — Emily Glover overcame eight walks to pitch a three-hit shutout for Sneads. Glover struck out seven. Courtney McFarland took the loss for Blountstown, 0-2.
Sneads won the JV game 5-0.
Mosley 10, Arnold 4
LYNN HAVEN — Dillon Brown was 3 fcor 4 with two doubles and two RBIs, Christian Stanford was 3 for 3 with two RBIs and Sean Maddox 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs for the Dolphins. Ben Peters was the winning pitcher. He went four innings and struck out five against one walk. Brown pitched the final three innings not yielding a hit and striking out four.
Mosley, 1-0, hosts Bozeman on Tuesday.
North Bay Haven 7, Freeport 4
FREEPORT — Harrison Perrett was 2 for 2 with two RBIs and Zac Perdue had a double and RBI and was the winning pitcher with two earned runs and five strikeouts.
North Bay Haven, 1-0, plays at South Walton on Wednesday.
FORT WALTON BEACH — Mosley placed fifth out of six schools while producing one weight-class champion in Dallas Johnson.
Johnson won the 129-pound class with a 240 bench, 155 clean and jerk and 395 total. The top six placers in each class earned team points with Fort Walton winning the team title with 58 points. Niceville had 47, Navarre 46, Choctawhatchee 30, Mosley 23 and Gulf Breeze 15.

Mosley will host Bay in a dual 3 p.m. Tuesday.
