TALLAHASSEE— Arnold runners Mikayla Hodges and Michaela Ashley placed second and third overall in the Region 1-2A cross country meet, and Mosley runner Aaron Jane was 14th in the 1-3A run to pace county state qualifiers.
The top 15 runners and six teams in both boys and girls divisions in all regions advanced to respective state meets.
Also noteworthy was Graceville runner Hunter Potts who was second in the 1-1A boys meet.
Hodges and Ashley paced Arnold’s girls to a sixth-place finish as the Marlins qualified as a team. Their other finishers were Camille Basin, 55th overall, McKenna Hyman, 61st and Christina Gaillard, 64th. Jodi Phillips of Rutherford was 47th.
Marianna’s boys were 10th as a team and Arnold 13th in 1-2A. Patrick Cox of Marianna was 28th overall and Jordan Lance of Arnold 31st. Adam Cassell of Rutherford was 46th.
Jane became the second Mosley runner to qualify for state in school history when timed in 16:18.
Potts ran 16:14.05 to finish behind winner Griffith Rutherford of North Florida Christian in 1-1A. No other area individuals qualified, but Wewahitchka advanced as a team with a sixth-place finish.
Jakob Bidwell led the Gators with a 37th-place run, Micah Lister was 38th, Jason Haire 42nd, Joshua Epps 44th and Elijah Sarmiento 55th. Derek Eberly of Blountstown also had a strong performance placing 25th.
Also qualifying for state was Blountstown’s Hannah Plazarin, who placed 14th in 1-1A girls.
The state meets will be held next Saturday morning at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee.
