Rain wiped out two softball tournaments in Panama City Beach and everything else that couldn’t be contested in a pool on Friday.

The Florida-Alabama Challenge high school event hosted by Arnold and the Gulf Coast Beach Classic junior college tournament at Frank Brown Park were washed out on Friday. District softball and baseball games and a Saturday track meet scheduled for Tommy Oliver Stadium also were postponed.

The Florida-Alabama Challenge will resume today with Friday’s schedule starting at 9 a.m. Games are scheduled for every 90 minutes.

Arnold coach Rick Green said the tournament received permission from the Florida High School Athletic Association to play on Sunday. However, Alabama schools won’t be permitted to play, he said.

GC Beach Classic games are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. today, but GC coach Susan Painter said start times will be determined by weather. She said games could be played as late as 11 p.m. today.

Games also are slated to begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday. The schedule is already compact with the tournament being contested on only three fields.

Mosley’s District 2-6A baseball game against visiting Choctawhatchee was postponed to 6 p.m. on Monday. Mosley coach Todd Harless said field conditions will play a role in whether the game can be played.
